What Story Do You Believe About Yourself?

I want to talk about the story that you believe about yourself.
We all have a story. Your story is dictating your current actions. Growing up I had a big problem with stuttering. If back then I could have afforded it, I would have gone to a Speech Therapist. My teachers said that Greg struggles with this and it would hold him back. I struggled with stuttering until 11th grade. Stuttering was a part of me, I believed I should limit my talking to people. That is the story I believed. I stutter, so I can’t change it. Then I became a Physical Therapist. I had to talk to people. So I knew I had to get better and more prepared with talking so there was less of a chance I would stutter. Now I have become this Physical Therapist who speaks to other Physical Therapists regarding practice ownership and technology. I am doing this live every single day and I am hardly stuttering. I have turned the belief that stuttering is not going to get me to talk to stuttering is the reason why I am so good at what I do. I realized if I practiced and did repetition there would be less of a chance my brain would get confused and I’d stutter. Does this make sense?
Here is story #2, I am in a motivational, fitness group. There is a man in our group with a condition called Spina Bifida. It is a condition that affects your spinal cord. He has no use of his legs. He has been in the group for less than a year. He is doing pull ups, chest press. He is doing everything he could potentially do. His story for the first 20-25 years of his life was that he had Spina Bifida. I am paralyzed from the waist down. I cannot exercise. Now he is using that same condition to be an inspiration to many people. He shows that he has full use of his arms, shoulders and other parts of his body and he is going to make full use of it. He has a different story, same condition. Make sense?
Many of you on here right now have a story about yourself. I can’t do cardio, I am big boned, I have too much going on in my life! I am stressed! I respect you, I get it, whatever! Your story is allowing you to either propel forward or your story is holding you back. You believe what you want to believe. I am telling you, if you change your story, you will change your life. If you have been abused, harassed, or had setbacks, use that story to propel yourself forward or use that story for excuses why you do nothing. Change your story today!
